Even if we exclude WotLK, Cata had same 4 mods, catch up dungeons AND LFR released. With release of ToC we got 4! difficulty mods. Leveling was still a big part, but once at max level, you did dungeons/quests for some base loot and badges and then got into current raid easiest difficulty skipping previous raid entirely. Game loop in WotLK changed into "play the patch" at the end-game. Yes, people treat it as mandatory, but before that raids were quite literally the only way to get maxed out. Raid ID is quite literally a weekly lockout, M+ was ADDITION to that, so just more OPTIONS to gear. WOTLK ICC introduced catch up, not seasonal, there were still another bunch of bullshit you had to do to be up to par for years, mostly in form of dailies/legendary quests/drops depending which expansion you want to talk about.I disagree on basis of:ToC introduced dungeon with catch up gear and each tier vendors were selling current tier items for badges which you could get from simple HCs. This is why I love DF - now there's not even silly AP-or-equivalent-shitpoints to grind in between seasons, so you don't have to do any prep Now I just do "fun keys" for a month or two - we tend to push until we hit a point where keys would require "real effort" (normally around +23s) and then we do some achieves, and generally stop and go play other games until next season. So over time, they slide towards that "top 1000" mark where they're desperately grinding for CE 5-6 months after the raid release, have to grind 72 keys weekly and recruitment resembles wild west saloon door. If you're in a "top guild" it's fine because you maybe run for a month, you get your CE and you're done (unless you need to boost, at which point, welcome to the sweatshop), but guilds very seldom stay on that level - recruitment is hard. ONly bringing this up because as you (Accurately) pointed out elsewhere, all other MMOs are unfortunately shit for gameplayThis is exactly my experience as well. You can play the game with friends for a couple months then everyone yeets out until the next patch.īut friends in guilds trying the world 1000 CE grind or whatever are the ones who burn out, constantly feeling the need to run keys for vault and never being able to walk away from the game. Maybe admit your addiction and step away from wowĭO you think most of your burnout comes from raiding? Because I dropped that two expansions ago and I don't feel any of this anymore. Overall, I have no idea how anyone puts up with doing 8 of these damn things minimum a week just to get vault.I start off by enjoying the game. Most of them aren't interested in +12 - 15s and I won't expect them to run things they don't want to do because I need it. Now I know the solution to the second problem is do the runs with a guild but, this is for my alt and we are a pretty small guild where not many people play alts. I got a single piece of loot all week which was a chest piece I didn't need as I have 447 crafted and don't need it for 4 set, and the rest of the week I just watched other players who didn't need the loot hearth out and leave before I could type "need x" in the chat. But I am able to put up with it sometimes if I want to achieve a goal.īut this week I've done my 8 dungeons and I'm just. It's well known on these forums that I hate the game mode, I find it tedious and too zergy. I know statistically I'm supposed to get a piece of loot about every 4 dungeons but it never works out that way and the one piece I did get was a piece I didn't need.
